Job Details

The Information Compliance and Records Management Unit sits within the Information Services Branch .

The unit has responsibility for meeting the Chief Constable's obligations under the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Acts and for advising upon and delivering Records Management policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the Information Management requirements of the Authorised Professional Practice (APP).

The role of Information Compliance and Records Management Officer would generally sit within this unit, however, this role will be within GMP's Change Branch.

The role will be working on the Change Branch's GDPR Project. The work will be varied including, but not limited to, gap analysis of GMP's IAR, reviewing, advising and drafting information sharing agreements, assessing Data Protection Impact Assessments, reviewing policies and procedures for compliance with Data Protection Legislation and providing advice and guidance on Data Protection matters.

To perform this role, applicants need a good working knowledge of the Data Protection Act, GDPR and Freedom of Information Acts, a basic awareness of Information Security, knowledge of the APP (Information Management) and the basic principles of records management. You will have experience in the use of computer systems, standard software packages and the use of spreadsheets and databases. You will be experienced in writing reports, procedures, briefing papers, etc.

With customer service skills you will have the ability to work on a number of tasks simultaneously and manage a broad and divergent workload as well as having the ability to assimilate and analyse information quickly and accurately.

The role will be on recruited on a temporary basis for the duration of the project. This will be an Agile role based at Sedgley Park, Prestwich, however, due to the current circumstances around the pandemic the role will be working from home until further notice.
