The Role of the MI Lead

The successful candidate will lead a team of analysts / data scientists as well as work closely with the delivery directors and SRO. They will need to engage with a wide range of stakeholders including at Director level to ensure successful and co-ordinated reporting of the new system.

We are seeking a candidate who can work effectively across the programme with a broad range of stakeholders.

         

Responsibilities / Key Tasks included in the role:

Strategy

    Set out the strategy and definitions of specific MI and reporting including aligning and helping develop the Department publication strategy (transparency data) implementation.Work across DG performance teams to identify reporting mechanisms and align reporting project work to that of the departmentFacilitate a handover of project level delivery of reporting to BAU across the business in time for the Vantage solution to be delivered.


Reporting

    Lead the delivery of frequent and accurate reporting to provide regular input to Ministerial meetings, including application numbers and a suite of other KPI/SLA level indicators drawn up by the programmeOwn and manage the MI requirements master list, applying excellent document control and change processesReport into programme governance on a weekly basis

Stakeholders

    Manage a wide range of MI, Data, performance, and reporting stakeholders at various levels, to ensure consistent messaging across the programme and the department. Lead the weekly MI and reporting working group.Work with Project managers to incorporate new MI and data needs from inception

Risks & Issues

    Work with SCS level risk owners and manage data/reporting related risks & issues, be able to identify new risks and potential issues that could impact the programme

Essential skills & Experience:


    Experience of handling data, or working with performance management information to provide a consistent and coherent story across the department for a programme or business unitBe familiar with Home Office data, extracts from casework systems, local or corporate reporting mechanismsBe able to interpret raw information pertaining to the Programme and the Department, into a coherent and accurate story across the BICS system, familiarity with the migrant journey, BICS services and sponsorship systems will help this.Ability to work with PRAU, HOAI and Data Services and Analytics to draw together a vast amount of information on data and in turn use that to help the department accurately report.Experience and technical ability in the area of Data Analytics and / or Data Science.Experienced in managing the delivery of data analytics projects and / or analysts with a proven history of using project methods to deliver real insight and change at Strategic, Tactical and Operational levels.Be a specialist in presenting conclusions, complex technical delivery items and analytical concepts to non-analytical audiences, including senior officials and ministers
