The Constabulary is offering an exciting opportunity for graduates to join our Finance department and study towards a professional accountancy qualification with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy (CIPFA).

The Constabulary's has an annual gross expenditure of £248m, and 2021 will see us reach an historic high of 2,267 police officers. The Finance department forms a critical function in the organisation to ensure that funding is utilised to provide the best quality policing service to the people of Hertfordshire.

We will offer successful applicants a wide range of experiences through a variety of placements across the finance function from budget setting to statement of accounts.

Successful candidates will have or be predicted to attain a minimum 2:1 (or equivalent) degree qualification in any discipline, have a passion for Public Sector finance and the drive to be a part of an evolving Finance department fit for the future of Policing. Shortlisted candidates will be required to demonstrate that they meet the essential entry requirements through interview, presentation and testing.

The role will be based the Constabulary's Headquarters in Welwyn Garden City with a mixture of home and office-based working.

Successful applicants will be funded to achieve the CIPFA qualification with circa 20% off the job training. In addition, applicants will be required to study in their own time in order to pass exams and progress through the qualification.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to pass a verbal and numeracy reasoning test before being invited to an assessment centre due to take place in May/June 2021.
