Job description

Please amend job description to:

DUST - We are seeking to deliver a pipeline of talent for anticipated recruitment in 2021/2022.

The NCA has a dedicated surveillance team to enhance agency support to proactive operations against high risk, high priority, Organised Crime Groups impacting across both England and Wales.
The team is based in the South of England, but will operate in support of NCA operational teams anywhere across the country. It will undertake surveillance in respect of all types of criminal activity; ranging from firearms supply to child sexual exploitation and money laundering to the supply of Class A drugs.

Surveillance operatives with considerable experience and other related skills from a variety of backgrounds are required to be part of the new team

Surveillance Operatives, Operations – There are current vacancies and we are seeking to deliver a pipeline of talent for anticipated recruitment in 2021/2022.
NCA Surveillance Operatives respond to a broad range of threats including Organised Immigration Crime, Human Trafficking, Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Firearms and Drugs amongst others in a varied and dynamic environment and undertake a critical role identifying intelligence and evidential opportunities in support of Investigation leads.

Responsibilities

Dedicated Unarmed Surveillance Team Key Responsibilities:

• Will form the basis of the new dedicated surveillance team, bringing with them a full range of previous surveillance experience in either law enforcement, military or other government agency roles.
• They will have a range of surveillance qualifications, with some being specialists in technical, rural and/or motorcyclist surveillance.
• The officers will deploy in two sub-teams or come together as a single team, to undertake a range of surveillance deployments in support of NCA operations across England and Wales.
• It is anticipated that the new team will be made up of officers from a wide range of ethnic and other backgrounds, to reflect the makeup of modern British society.

Please note:
• Successful candidates will be expected to pass a five day Officer Safety Training course (OST) during their probationary period or during their first six months in the Agency (Civil Service transfers). Failure to do so would mean you would not be able to continue in the operational Investigator role, we would seek to find you an alternative non-operational role within the agency.
• The OST combines cognitive input, armed and unarmed defence theory and practical techniques and as such, requires a level of physical exertion, due to the nature and repetition of the drills. The practical techniques include use of body weapons, movement and positioning, strikes (armed/unarmed) blocks, restraint and control. We will expect officers attending the course to have a standard of physical fitness. Progressive full body warm-ups are conducted each day to minimise risk of injury to the officer. It is expected the officer is capable of a ground descent and ascent, unaided and within a reasonable timeframe. This is important both individually and in team tactics.

***All NCA officers must hold SC Enhanced upon entry as a minimum. To meet the National Security Vetting requirements for this role you will need to have resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 out of the past 5 years. For more information please see the Candidate information Pack***
