Job Description Summary The primary role of the Senior Environmental Manager is to create, implement and maintain the organizations' strategy and action plans to ensure business sustainable development. Will also drive sustainability improvement programs to achieve the business goals of carbon footprint reduction, water use reduction, waste elimination, optimal sourcing, recycling, resource conservation, and other green initiatives.

The Senior Environmental Manager will also provide support, advices, and counsel on all Environmental, Health and Safety matters relating to transactions, including global Mergers and Acquisitions, integration, divestitures, and real estate transactions, supporting Steam Power business development team, working closely with GE corporate EHS counsel and transactional teams.

Job Description Roles and Responsibilities
  • Responsible from all Steam Power Fixed Facilities and supporting services, projects, and construction operations.
  • Provide expertise in air, water, waste, hazardous materials transportation, product regulation (REACH, WEE, RoHs, etc.), sustainable development (CSR), ESG, Industrial Hygiene & Chemical Management.
  • Customize and/or develop Business programs and policies
  • Establish and deliver trainings for the area of responsibility
  • Supervise and coach EHS frontline and operation teams.
  • Work in collaboration with other GE businesses on common goals and transfer & communicate best practices
  • Participate in Business level Audits
  • Permit Review process owner
  • Ensure busines compliance with environmental legislation
  • Liaise with relevant bodies such as local authorities, public bodies and competent bodies
  • Data review: trend analysis on EHS global data and internal reporting
  • Develop the Steam sustainability strategy and lead the associated implementation plan
  • Manage sustainability reporting in alignment with Corporate requirements
  • EHS Tollgate reviews for office transactions
  • Address environmental issues in transactions, due diligence, dispute resolutions, integration and brownfields Efforts.
  • Identify, analyze, propose, and lead mitigation for the EHS risks posed as part of the contemplated transaction, that covers
  • Establish site exit remediation 'desktop' scopes, estimates & timelines; based on historical data knowledge (funding and budgeting estimations)  
  • Support the TG0 approval phase, leading the validation and challenges regarding the remediation costs
  • Lead the remediation contractor RFQ process and ultimate selection of the lead contractor
  • Be a core and active team member through the project lifecycle
  • Lead the asset disposal process; set the sampling plans, review sampling results, and set remediation or disposal controls...
  • Establish the site and building remediation scope, advise solution on remediation challenges faced
  • Support the Asset Flow process in approving items for internal transfer or Auction disposal
  • Ensure the waste disposal and waste contractors are fully compliant to all local legislation, legal and GE policies
  • Advise and connect the team to further professionals to support active solutions and risk mitigation challenges
  • Being accountable to deliver the project EHS remediation workstream to cost/budget
  • Participate in activities of the Legal and Transactions functions, including deal report outs, brownfield sales and risk management.
  • Be part of a team of technical experts that support Brownfields, Transaction, on site environmental issues related to site remediation (not managed by the remedial team) Including budget setting, cost control and reporting.
  • Support & guide regional teams on facility pre-assessment criteria. Including review and close out of any exceptions.
  • Support & guide regional teams on facility exit criteria. Ensuring exit documentation is completed, approved & held on record.
  • Run rigorous EHS performance with Steam power facility management supplier and report back insights for timely actions.

Essential Responsibilities as Team member
  • Lead business in complying with all applicable EHS rules, regulations and GE policies
  • Provide technical guidance and training at the facility/distributed work force level
  • Interface professionally with company associates, customers, government officials and the public in all areas of environment, health and safety
  • Analyze data to assess environment, health and safety challenges, and to develop approaches to control
  • Initiate and influence integration of related policies and practices into the business
  • Manage activities and provide leadership to programs that ensure company compliance

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree related to environmental or chemical management
  • ISO 45001/14001/OHSAS 18001 certified auditor
  • Significant EHS experience, related to EHS transactions, brownfields development, remediation, M&A & divestitures EHS project management, from reputable domain expert.
  • Highly Competent in one of the EHS learning/investigations tools (8D, Tab Root, Bow tie ,.... )
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment, influence and support diverse teams to achieve a unified goal 
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and other responsibilities, adjust to changing priorities and to make decisions with speed and accuracy based on available information
  • Fluent English
