Engineer RAMS Operational Safety (Aerospace)

Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire, SG6 2HB
Salary: Attractive packages, DOE
Hours: 37 hours per week, with possible overtime
Contract: Permanent/Fixed Term

We develop digital offline and online documentation, together with Computer Based and AR/VR Training.  Working to industry specific standards such as S1000D, ATA, JSP, DSAT and DITA, for the; Commercial, Defence, Energy, Aerospace and Rail sectors.

The Role - Engineer RAMS 

Our team is looking for its next Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Supportability (RAMS) - Operational Safety Design Engineer.  You will be integrated into a cluster of expertise.

Our common goal is to evaluate on-board electronic systems (E/E systems) to ensure their reliability, maintainability, availability and safety.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities - Engineer RAMS 

As a RAMS engineer, you will realise and maintain the Dependability and Safety studies for a major aerospace contract.

You will be in responsible for:

  • Implementing Reliability and Availability analysis
  • Perform Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Realise Hazard Analysis (Safety risks identification);
  • In the frame of RAMS results, provide support to project team to define solutions and/or recommendations to reach the requirements.

The right candidate will have the following skills and background:

  • First practice of methodologies associated with RAMS-FMDS-Operational Safety studies (stage, apprenticeship or alternation...): FHA, FMEA, SSA, PSSA, CCA, CMA.
  • Familiar with ARP4761 or ARP4754 or DO254 or EN 50126 or IEC 61508.
  • A degree, or equivalent qualification, in a relevant subject area
  • Demonstrable experience of undertaking RAM activities including RAM plans, Functional Analysis, Functional Block Diagrams, reliability/availability apportionment, predictions and modelling, FMECAs, Fault Tree Analysis / Reliability Block Diagram, DRACAS and maintainability analyses
  • Experience using reliability software tools
  • Ability to work collaboratively with our clients and internal teams in the development of designs ensuring RAM compliance is achieved throughout the project life cycle by the identification of undesirable issues and influencing design solutions
  • A pro-active thinker that can provide potential solutions
  • Ability to track production of tasks from conception to completion
  • Drive and enthusiasm to achieve customer quality criteria
  • Ability to work to deadlines and adhere to schedules
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision

Desirable:

  • Current SC Clearance an advantage
