Engineering Safety Consultant

Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire
Salary: Attractive packages, DOE
Hours: 37 hours per week, with possible overtime
Contract: Permanent/Fixed Term

We develop digital offline and online documentation, together with Computer Based and AR/VR Training.  Working to industry specific standards such as S1000D, ATA, JSP, DSAT and DITA, for the; Commercial, Defence, Energy, Aerospace and Rail sectors.

The role - Engineering Safety Consultant

In the context of major projects in the aerospace sector, you will join our team and accompany our clients in the organisation or management of their projects, in collaboration with our experts.

With your different experiences of the development of industrial projects, you will be responsible for driving in RAMS analyses throughout the projects. 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities - Engineering Safety Consultant:

  • Conducting reliability and safety studies at the equipment and system level,
  • Preliminary Risk Analysis (APR, FHA), Zone Analysis, Operational Risk Analysis (ARO),
  • AMDEC Products (FMEA: FMECA), AMDEC system and AMDEC processes,
  • Failure trees, with associated qualitative and quantitative balance sheets,
  • Predictive reliability and availability calculations at the component and system level,
  • Maintenance studies / testability, even ASL system,
  • Tracking the design and operational requirements needed to achieve safety and reliability objectives,
  • Writing of the SDF summary files (SSA, PSSA, SDF report, safety/security file)

Engineering Safety Consultant - The right candidate will have the following skills and background:

  • Trained as an Engineer (or equivalent Msc), with training or experience in Systems Operating Safety; as well as a good knowledge of engineering technologies and sciences (mechanical and/or electronics;
  • Minimum experience of 1 year in SDF/RAMS system
  • An understanding of the main standards and tools of the domain: ARP4761, NPRD, NF EN 61508
  • Have knowledge of aeronautical or space systems (flight and/or ground systems)

Desirable:

  • Synthesis and analysis, writing ability, relational ease, ability to work as a team, autonomy
  • Drive and enthusiasm to achieve customer quality criteria
  • Ability to work to deadlines and adhere to schedules
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision
  • Current SC Clearance an advantage

Please Note: candidates must successfully undergo UK Security Vetting before they can be appointed.

The level of security needed is Security Check (SC).
