Job Description Summary Join the software development team and utilize your software & leadership skills to enhance & promote a generic Windows 10 based platform which can be utilised to host a wide range of GE Power Conversion software products.

Job Description Main responsibilities
  • Enhance and develop a standard Windows 10 based platform which can be used by various teams in different GE Power Conversion Units as a platform for their Windows based control applications
  • Understand Windows security requirements and update the platform to adopt the latest Microsoft STIGS & provide mechanisms for remote patch management of components
  • Develop & configure functionality that is common across all GE Power Conversion Windows based products, including web pages to access diagnostics data, Audit logging for event management, User authentication mechanisms for system authentication
  • Create, maintain & document software interfaces for GE Power Conversion development teams to utilise within their applications.
  • Configure and maintain support for a range of hardware platforms, drivers, PC BIOS etc
  • Create, support & document installation images and GUIs to enable the efficient and reliable installation of our software products
  • Document and promote the product for use across the Units within GE Power Conversion and proactively provide support & adjust the product to meet their requirements
  • Manage the development of the product according to the IEC 62443 4-1 quality process and be responsible for its on-time delivery, quality & defining its future development strategy
  • Occasional travel to customer or other GE development locations may be required.
Essential requirements
  • BSc in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field of study
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Windows OS products, including desktop and server variants
  • Three or more years of experience in Windows software development
  • Ability to create Windows based installation applications, utilizing OS API's, e.g. to 'lock' down machine for security, automatic creation of user accounts, installation/uninstallation of services/applications etc
  • Skills in configuring and problem-solving Windows based systems
  • Ability to lead a software development program & to interact with personnel from a wide range of different teams based in different Countries
  • Good written and verbal communication skills & the ability to proactively promote a product
Desired characteristics
  • Experience with computer networks, Ethernet, LANs, TCP/IP and other protocols.
  • Knowledge of developing software according to formal software quality processes
  • Familiarity with continuous Integration & deployment techniques
  • Understanding of Windows cyber security issues
  • Ability to create structured documentation suitable for Customer use
