DevOps Engineer - Manchester.

You will be responsible for deploying product updates, identifying production issues and implementing integrations that meet our requirements on Hybrid Cloud Services designs.

The vision for HCS is to support the wider DWP vision of 'Digital By Default' by:

  • Providing an end-to-end 'multi-cloud' hosted service for DWP's Product Development Units.
  • Providing a securely connected hosting service. Removing DWP's reliance on traditional hosting solutions and contracts.
  • Standardising, simplifying and automating delivery through a Target Operating Model (TOM), with underpinning processes, training and tools to accelerate PDU delivery.

Your daily tasks will be

  • Provisioning AWS server using Terraform and writing playbooks where the automation is defined
  • Responsible for contributing to providing advice and guidance to others in the organisation.
  • Identifying and fixing various merging conflicts and pushes appropriate code into GitLab source.
  • Maintain Cloud diagnostics and taking responsibility for decision-making and professional development.

You will have

  • significant experience of Linux Operating Systems.
  • significant experience of Scripting systems using Terraform.
  • significant experience of Version Controls systems (Git and GitLab CI).
  • significant experience of working in an agile environment building, deploying, supporting, patching and operating cloud applications (in particular AWS and Azure).
  • experience of containers and containerised workloads e.g. orchestration services such as Kubernetes and ISTIO.
