Job Description Summary In line with the introduction of a new industry-leading product, the Haliade X offshore wind turbine, the role of the technical leader is to manage a portion of the increasing sales and tendering activities in offshore services from a technical and costing perspective, together with involvement in the negotiation of long term service agreements following successful bids. The technical lead will assist in driving optimized strategies to secure profitable service business within the highly competitive offshore wind service market, including any requests for additional work by existing customers.

Job Description Essential Responsibilities
The person is expected to:
  • Support the Service Commercial team, as a Service Technical Proposals Lead for our Offshore Wind business, reporting to the Services Commercial Director.
  • Be the key point of contact for service in delivering appropriate service strategies for specific assigned projects and manage transaction details related to all technical aspects to support strategy development, execution and risk management processes.
  • Ensure that customer requirements are well understood, and manage the analysis and development of service offers in a timely fashion, incorporating solid cost modelling, pricing, appropriate terms and conditions and technical appendices to ensure a complete and quality offering to the customer.
  • Ensure that all customer technical and commercial clarifications or queries are understood and resolved in a timely fashion.
  • Interface with appropriate internal stakeholders in relation to the above responsibilities, and in particular assist be responsible for gaining approvals from  the various risk processes for relevant projects.
  • Represent GE offshore service at client meetings.
  • Perform the cost and risk analysis for the Service tender.
  • Participate in the risk process and be accountable for getting approvals for technical risks in line with defined delegation of authority
  • Take part in the improvement of the Service offerings:
  • Maintain/Develop Service costing tools and assumptions to improve cost solidity and competitiveness
  • Maintain/Develop Service documentation to support the Service offer
  • Participate in Service contracts adaptation for the different Service options                                         


Qualifications/Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Marine or Industrial Engineering or Business from an accredited college or university or similar.
  • Minimum of one year of experience with reviewing customer specifications, proposal development, contract development and direct negotiation for service sales
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional and global environment, remote teams, strong team player
  • Fluency in English language.


Desired Characteristics
  • Offshore wind experience or experience in a related discipline
  • Good organizational skills as well as strong capabilities in Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • High motivation level; self-starter with negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions and priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to perform effectively in a non-hierarchical team environment
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work in a multicultural environment covering a range of activities (maritime, logistics, technical, maintenance, offshore activities) and be comfortable with regular client interactions and negotiations.
  • Another European language (French, German, Spanish) would be a plus
