About the job Summary

Working closely with the whole intelligence directorate and particularly the agencies National Targeting Centre (NTC), the NAC G2 for Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) will be responsible for the CSA portfolio of intelligence assessment work from commissioning products, negotiated with partners from across the CSA spectrum, to quality assuring assessment and analytical work and representing the department at key thematic meetings, all the way up to ministerial and director general level briefings. The role is diverse. Not only will you be responsible for your thematic team, you will contribute to the wider National Intelligence Hub transformation portfolio.

Job description

The National Assessments Centre (NAC) is responsible for producing all source, assessed reporting that provides the authoritative picture of the UK’s understanding of the threat from serious and organised crime, a key factor in driving the NCA’s activity and protecting the public.

Working closely with the whole intelligence directorate and particularly the agency’s National Targeting Centre (NTC), the NAC G2 for Commodities will be responsible for the Commodities portfolio of intelligence assessment work which ranges from: commissioning products, negotiated with partners from across the Commodities spectrum, to quality assuring assessment and analytical work and representing the department at key thematic meetings, all the way up to ministerial and director general level briefings. The role is diverse. Not only will you be responsible for your thematic team, you will contribute to the wider National Intelligence Hub transformation portfolio.

This role involves close working with other UK and International Intelligence, Law Enforcement and Policy partners charged with tackling SOC and its impact on the UK.

As serious and organised crime is defined as a ‘national security’ concern, the NAC also works with the UK Intelligence Community and counter-terrorism policing to assess the crossovers between serious crime, terrorism and other national security issues. Additionally, the centre works closely with key international partners to ensure that assessments truly reflect the global nature of the SOC threat.

Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities

- Leading the NAC Commodities team, setting direction and managing the performance, workload, career development and output of a team of analysts and researchers
- Contributing to NCA strategic intelligence products, often at pace
- Responsible for cross departmental and organisational engagement (including the public, private and third sector)
- Managing the flow of work through the department, from commissioning products to dissemination to key stakeholder
- Quality assuring research and analysis
- Briefing senior leaders on the Commodities threat, both internally and externally
- Contributing to a range of agency products, including those of international partners
- Contributing to the wider National Intelligence Hub transformation programme
- Member of the NAC and NIH Senior Leadership Team

***All NCA officers must hold SC Enhanced upon entry as a minimum. To meet the National Security Vetting requirements for this role you will need to have resided in the UK for a minimum of 3 out of the past 5 years. For more information please see the Candidate information Pack***

Qualifications

The following qualifications/skills are essential to the role and proof will be required at interview:

A relevant criminal justice research based degree, Analytical Apprenticeship or analytical qualification including but not limited to GIAT/NIAT/DIAM

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check.

People working with government assets must complete basic personnel security standard checks.
