The Agency’s Forensic Department is a multifunctional nationally based team responsible for the delivery of traditional and digital forensics services focussed on tackling serious and organised crime affecting the UK. The Department includes a Project team who are responsible for the delivery of the Forensics Capability Uplift Project. The department is managed by two G2 Senior Managers; The Head of Forensic Operations, and the Head of Forensic Projects.

Job description

Main Responsibilities You will;

• Manage a Forensic Department comprising of approximately 100 forensic officers; setting and maintain operational performance objectives, resource provision and management, and oversight of all forensic practices.
• Carry out responsibilities as the Agency’s Deputy Top Manager in regard to ISO accreditation, and ensure all activity and staff activities fall within the confines of the accreditation and FSR Codes of Practice.
• Engaging with forensic customers within Investigations (ensuring that the team engage with SIOs in Investigations and develop appropriate forensic strategies in response to grid operations)
• Oversight and management of all forensic service provider contracts, to ensure service delivery within agreed contractual timelines.
• Engage with national overt and covert forensic groups at a strategic level
• Engage with partners in the UK and abroad to develop working relationships in order to tackle new and emerging threats through collaborative working.
• Routine travel nationally to visit all sites of forensic activity

Technical skills

We'll assess you against these technical skills during the selection process:

  • Proven record of managing ISO 17020 and 17025 Forensic Accredited environments and practitioners, in regard to both traditional and digital forensic disciplines.
  • Detailed understanding of legislation governing forensic and investigative overt and covert methods and tactics in regard to investigating serious and organised crime.
  • Proven experience of managing a traditional and digital operational Forensic Department concerned in the investigation of serious and organised crime

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check.

People working with government assets must complete basic personnel security standard checks.
