Leadership is a key attribute of this role which deals with the full breadth of high-end investigations into organised crime, including; Cyber-crime, complex fraud, child exploitation, drugs and firearms.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate a broad working knowledge of how to manage ISO-accredited laboratory environment to extract, process and analyse data stored within digital devices to an evidential level.

You will be capable of managing a team of ISO 17025 competent Digital Forensic practitioners and advise Senior Investigating Officers on digital forensic strategy and intelligence opportunities.

Job description

As a manager your role will include responsibility for managing staff, setting and maintaining performance objectives, resource management and close liaison with operational digital managers in the joint provision of operational service delivery, and strategic oversight of digital investigations.

Candidates must also be able to travel within the UK and abroad to represent the NCA.

We are seeking candidates who are:

Experienced and have an in depth current knowledge of digital forensic techniques and processes to exploit evidential opportunities for NCA. Candidates should also be committed to implementing and maintaining the highest standards required in relation to ISO 17025, 17020 accreditation and forensic regulation.
 

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a Digital Forensic Team, review key digital forensic activity and develop strategies to deliver agreed objectives in conjunction with operational peers.
• Management responsibility for service delivery and use of resources in line with best value.
• Support transformational change across the Digital Forensic Project and wider Agency.
• Be an active member of the Forensics Department Senior Leadership Team, leading by example and proactively taking part in departmental management requirements

Qualifications

The following qualifications/skills are essential to the role and proof will be required at interview:

- Certified Digital Forensic Practitioner Qualification or equivalent experience (assessed from details in CV).

Please ensure the dates of any accreditations you are relying on, are entered on to the CV.

Should you progress to the assessment stage of the process, you will be required to provide a copy of the original certificate.

Failure to provide evidence at interview may result in your application not progressing to the next stage.

Technical skills

  • Current knowledge of digital forensic techniques and processes used in the collection and analysis of data from both computers and mobile phones.
  • Extensive understanding and experience in the management and application ISO 17020 accredited environment, and adherence to the FSR Codes of Practice in a digital arena.
  • Experience of managing a team of digital forensic officers in a laboratory or operational environment.
  • Experience and understanding of covert or sensitive techniques in the extraction of data.

Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check.

People working with government assets must complete basic personnel security standard checks.
