Role Summary/Purpose:

The newly created Executive - Commercial Lean Leader will be responsible for leveraging Lean to optimize and harmonize the commercial strategy across the GE Digital business verticals, including Manufacturing, Grid Software, Power Generation and Oil & Gas. Leveraging previous sales experience, this hire would build strategic relationships and drive the markets with Lean to deliver positive commercial outcomes.  In addition, this leader is responsible for designing and leading the Customer Experience process across GED.  This includes establishing the vision, customer journey mapping, and customer experience measurement, to drive improved outcomes for our customers.

Essential Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for centralizing the commercial operating mechanisms that currently exist in various parts of the GED business verticals. By leveraging a horizontal view as the Commercial Lean Leader, this person will improve transparency and metrics that result in growth and efficiency.  This individual would own the customer experience process including voice of customer, growth tools (IDNA), etc…

The goal is to positively impact results and culture by establishing standards, institutionalizing daily management processes, and adopting consistent problem-solving methods.  As the architect of GE Digital's Business System, this leader will build an action plan to identify opportunities and implement tools and processes such as; the lean resource staffing model, the project funnel prioritization process, etc. which will ultimately define the lean culture and activities.    

The individual in this role will be expected to:

  • Design GE Digital's Lean Business System and organization through partnership and influence of the Executive Leadership Team

  • Implement the Business System including; daily management metrics, review and problem-solving cadence and agenda at, process to address KPI and CVD (core value drivers); implementing lean tools and training programs to enable PSP/action planning

  • Establish a lean competency program which; ensures the application of globally recognized standards for lean principles and practices, serves as a benchmark for GE Digital's achievements, provides a common roadmap for continuous improvement and workforce development

  • Develop capability across the spectrum from the tactical (deployment and application of principles, concepts and methods) to the strategic (a transformation that deeply impacts a key value stream)

  • Deployment of this Lean Business System must result in improved EBITDA and Free Cash Flow

  • Develop and implement Commercial Lean playbook into the businesses

  • Leverage Lean for funnel management, daily management and execution rigor

  • Partner with Commercial Excellence as they determine common metrics for the Business Units

  • Serve as the customer experience leader and leverage growth tools such as IDNA Framework, Voice of Customer, etc.

  • Committed to peer leadership and partnership

  • Capture the essence of the lean culture

  • Champion change management to effectively embed throughout the growing organization

Qualifications/Requirements:

Basic Qualifications

  • BS or BA Degree; Master's Degree preferred

  • Minimum 10 years in a Sales (Direct/Indirect) or Account Management Leadership Position

  • Minimum of 7 years mastering a variety Lean and Growth-related tools such as: Strategy Deployment, Problem Solving, Daily Management, Standard Work, and VSM/Process Mapping

Eligibility Requirements

  • For roles outside of the USA- This role requires significant experience in Sales & Account Management. Knowledge level is comparable to a Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience).

  • For roles in USA - Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 10 years of experience in Sales/Lean Operations

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ideally built and/or designed business system for global organization

  • Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations from a general manager's perspective

  • Familiarity with lean NPD methodologies

  • Excellent time and project management

  • Successfully managed multi-million dollar budget

  • Technical Expertise - Possess the technical skills necessary to be credible; must have significant practitioner experience in Growth & Lean tools and processes

  • Proven ability to bring order and structure to function and organization quickly

  • Demonstrated successful leadership and proficiency in building and implementing lean business system/practices for global manufacturing organization (in a variety of situations)

  • Strategic mindset with hands-on approach

  • Strong commercial focus on customer and end user experience
