Salary: £20,000 per annum, dependent upon experience


About the Role:
The Retail Catering Department is responsible for a total meal service and hospitality services within University Hospital Southampton. It provides catering on a breakfast, lunch and supper service 365/6 days per year. It provides a staff and visitor restaurant as well as a coffee shop and a variety of vending and hospitality options during contracted hours. The retail supervisor is responsible for supervision and guidance of a group of staff to ensure high quality service delivery at all times along with the highest possible product and presentation standard.

As the Retail Supervisor, you will co-ordinate an efficient catering team to maintain a clean, safe working environment adhering to health and safety working practises and food hygiene regulations and assist in the delivery of all catering services to patients, staff and visitors within the hospital. This job is based in the Feast Restaurant and the Coffee Shop.

The post holder will manage the supervision, allocation, direction and monitoring of catering assistants, including in helping to arrange rotas, annual leave and sickness cover. You will also participate in recruitment, training, absent management and personal development of the catering assistant. The Retail Supervisor must manage stock control and reconcile cash taking from the vending machine, coffee shop and the Restaurant.

About you

You will have substantial supervisory experience and hold a Food Hygiene Certificate, NVQ 3 or equivalent certificate. Strong communication and customer care are also essential and you will have a passion for helping others.
