We have a fantastic new job opportunity for somebody with M&E design experience to join our engineering team based in Ashchurch. We're looking for a motivated individual who is dynamic, ambitious, eager to learn, thrives on challenge and keen to make an impact within the business.

The difference our Design Engineer will make
Information Systems is a thriving and growing business unit within Defence Systems Technology (DST). We are transforming and we need you to support us in forging new paths, and contributing as we grow through exciting, but sometimes challenging change.
Joining the engineering team you will support projects provided under the Engineering Services (ES) agreement and those through the Tasked Services process ensuring all are delivered within budget and in accordance with applicable performance targets.
As a proven design engineer you'll provide professional and flexible technical solutions to the ongoing operations and maintenance of extant services and equipment. The secondary purpose of your role is to provide M&E designs for the provision of new, or modification to; designs, equipment and facilities.

Additional Accountabilities:
• Act in a professional and courteous manner at all times
• Ensure appropriate communication is maintained with all stakeholders to create and maintain strong, lasting relationships with customers, suppliers, Service sponsors and Company stakeholders
• To enhance Babcock's reputation with the Customer by ensuring that all assigned tasks are delivered in a professional manner exceeding the Customer's expectations
• To comply with the Data Protection Act (DPA) to provide the appropriate level of control of all personally identifiable information to which you and your team have access as part of their role

Who we're looking for
You'll have a minimum of HNC in a relevant engineering discipline and a proven background as a Design Engineer with both mechanical and electrical experiance. You're someone who brings innovative ideas and solves problems with simple and elegant solutions The role requires a good understanding of engineering and design practices as relevant to a design discipline including appropriate CAD skills.

Knowledge of electrical/electronic engineering
Experience in undertaking engineering calculations.
Experience in technical document production and configuration control.

Experience
• Experience in previous roles delivering M&E design solutions
• Financial awareness for effective control of budgets
• Working knowledge of the Code of Practice for the In-service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (4th Edition).

Skills and attributes
• Proficient with core Microsoft Office365 applications (Word / Excel)
• An understanding of the Defence and Security industry

Education and Qualifications
• Minimum HND/HNC qualified in an engineering discipline with extensive experience in the relevant field will be considered.
• Ideally, you will be a Member of a relevant Learned Institution, or you will have significant demonstrable engineering experience and capable of registration with the Engineering Council at CEng level.
• Computer Aided Design qualification Seimens NX12/teamcentre, Autocad
• C&G BS76671:2018
• Desirable: C&G2394 & 5
