Role Description
The Systems Engineer will engage with a number of stakeholders at various levels, and work within the BEARERS team to deliver the agreed outputs to meet the agreed milestones. The engineer will be responsible for delivering work packages, and may be responsible for a small team of engineers.
The successful applicant will work alongside the current delivery team to understand the current system design, and advise on networking architectures, systems, and routing configurations. To investigate how specific ad-hoc networks behave over links, to influence the system design as it matures.
Essential skills, knowledge, capabilities etc
General
The Systems Engineer will have knowledge and experience in System Design and Integration, that covers the following key areas:
· Interoperability and interfaces between systems,
· Requirements management,
· User Capability needs analysis.
· Influencing technology roadmaps.
Role Specific
· Knowledge of system engineering methodologies and deriving system designs from high-level architectures in a tactical or constrained environment.
· Awareness of force laydowns, military users, tactical communications.
· Excellent understanding of Layer 2 and 3 Network architectures.
· Experience in Layer 2 and 3 Network modelling.
· Hands-on Tactical Network configuration.
· Good understanding of ad-hoc networking architectures, systems, and routing - including how specific ad-hoc networks behave over links.
· Knowledge of security domains.
Desirable skills, knowledge, capabilities etc
Qualifications;
a. Degree or equivalent qualification or experience.
b. 5 years plus relevant experience in engineering / system engineering.
Experience of:
a. Leading or delivering Military projects.
b. Working on Agile projects.
An understanding of:
a. EvO Network Architecture.
b. BCIP 5.6 Networking behaviour.
c. RF Systems, including MANET, Software defined radio.
