We have two business apprenticeships available in Procurement or Materials. We will ask you during the process what role you prefer.
Sourcing Apprentice
As a Procurement and Supply Chain Higher Apprentice your role can extend to a huge range of related commercial activity such as influencing policy, financial analysis, engaging in contract law, and developing strategy to deliver services.
This scheme will lead to a Commercial Procurement and Supply Chain (level 4) diploma. Achieving this apprenticeship will enable you to use your breadth and depth of experience to position yourself as a fully effective commercially skilled individual in procurement and supply. We will also provide you with on the job training and GE corporate training focusing on your soft skills.
During this three-year Higher Apprenticeship, you will be responsible for researching, sourcing, buying, and delivering every component and consumable that goes onto our products or supports our MRO facilities around the world. Moreover, this must all be delivered at the right time, for the right cost and to the right quality standards.
Role Summary/Purpose
The purpose of this role is to support the Commodity Leaders and other members of the team with sourcing and procurement activities, liaising with other business functions on supplier queries, leading continuous improvement project initiatives and supporting system data housekeeping routines.

Materials Apprentice
Materials Planning is defined as: Scheduling, forecasting and fulfilling the correct volumes of materials, goods and products inbound to the business from its supply chain companies to maximise available capacity to meet our customer demands & business objectives.
Overall Purpose of the Role:
To develop professionally within the materials planning departments to ensure that the supply of materials meet the production schedule, shortages are resolved, inventory is kept to business targets and business metrics are achieved ensuring operational and production continuity.
Maintains strong relationships both internally and externally to ensure supply of materials meets requirements. Work under general supervision with regular reviews with manager to support performance & growth.
During the apprenticeship you will be required to deliver multiple projects or process improvements to ensure continuous functional improvements, whilst developing a knowledge and competence of the role & Dowty business. Role will provide exposure to multiple departments further supporting development.
Key Responsibilities:
Create plans, forecasts and schedules relating to materials required to meet operational requirements
Co-ordinate the delivery scheduling process to ensure there are no disruptions to production
Build relationships with internal stakeholders and handle any queries within capability
Respond to queries and help to resolve any issues
Communicate with internal stakeholders regarding progress and updates
Keep accurate records and update any computerised/Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems
Attend meetings and provide support as and when required
Prepare reports and information
Provide general administrative support
Make recommendations based on findings and analysis
Review ways to save money and maintain consistency in material quality
Monitor variances and recommend process improvements
Participate in regular planning reviews and prepare data in line with changes
