Job Description Summary Role Overview
This role will be responsible for the continued development and implementation of a best in class Employee Relations function for GE Aviation in Europe. This role plays a critical role in aligning organizational strategy with employee needs, helping to develop effective people policies and practices.
The candidate will have responsibility for all areas of the employee relations agenda, managing our relationships with our employees and their representatives with regional support from the employee relations specialist based in the UK. The candidate will work closely with the HR and ER teams of AvioAero to ensure coordination and consistency regarding important ER issues. The role will also leverage broader stakeholder support from the wider Global ER team based in the US.
The role will act as a key point of contact for the business leadership team on employee relations matters and will provide advisory support for people leaders and HR managers across the business.

Role Overview

The candidate will have responsibility for all areas of the employee relations agenda, managing our relationships with our employees and their representatives with regional support from the employee relations specialist based in the UK.  The candidate will work closely with the HR and ER teams of AvioAero to ensure coordination and consistency regarding important ER issues.  The role will also leverage broader stakeholder support from the wider Global ER team based in the US.

The role will act as a key point of contact for the business leadership team on employee relations matters and will provide advisory support for people leaders and HR managers across the business.  

Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead point of contact for Employee Relations activities in Europe.
  • Lead the Employee Relations strategy and execution for GE Aviation in Europe to ensure we have an aligned strategy between employee needs and business outcomes. 
  • Act as advisor to the Senior HR and Business Leadership teams on all Employee Relations matters in Europe.
  • Actively co-ordinate and lead GE Aviation's European Works Council (EWC) ensuring coordination, design and deployment of transnational business / function projects.
  • Partner with business leaders to maintain successful working relationships and engagement across the business on all European Employee Relations matters with specific focus on EWC.
  • Ensuring Employee relations strategy for Europe (and the EWC) is clearly and regularly communicated to employees and business stakeholders.
  • Establish key relationships with Employee Relations professionals in the other GE businesses to ensure successful deployment of EWC initiatives.
  • Act as the key contact for managing relationships with our EWC representatives.
  • Monitor evolution of European legislation regarding people management practices.
  • Partner with relevant stakeholders on transformative change implementations in Europe including process, systems and governance.
  • Responsibility for creating best in class training and development for our people leaders and their HR partners across a range of employee relations issues, ensuring a positive and consistent employee experience aligned with business outcomes. 
  • Overseeing the climate assessment program for Europe.
  • Regularly advise and update HR teams across Europe on planned European initiatives, changes, improvements, EWC matters and maintain a regular rhythm with the European HR team.
  • Maintain a strong ER operating protocol and Governance Model across Europe with oversight of collective bargaining, pay negotiations, redundancies, restructures, transfers of work etc….
  • Lead, develop and coach team members to support them with their career growth.

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Proven years of direct experience in Employee Relations, including negotiations, collective consultation and dispute management.
  • Extensive & demonstrated ER expertise and leadership experience.
  • Ability to building strong relationships and drive trust across a diverse organization. 
  • Ability to drive clear communication and engagement at all levels and present data in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to influence change - well developed influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrable project/program management ability across jurisdictions. 
  • Experience managing complex ER cases within a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing employee relations, TUPE, redundancies, restructures and other complex HR cases.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, passion and exhibits confidence; proven ability to work well with & influence all levels of stakeholders in a matrixed organization.
  • Rigor - needs to know the details of the project plan, including identify risks and follow up accordingly.
  • Willingness to travel.
