Job Details
The team's priorities are ensuring compliance with the legislation - affording rights of access under the DPA and the FOIA within the legislative timeframes and providing advice and guidance to officers and staff to aid compliance with the DPA as they conduct their business, for example by advising on and setting up Information Sharing Agreements to facilitate engagement with our partners.
The role of Information Compliance and Records Management Officer is varied and is required to advise upon and draft information sharing agreements, assess Data Protection Impact Assessments, investigate and assess possible data breaches, review policies and procedures for compliance with Data Protection Legislation, investigate complaints from members of the public and the regulator, the Information Commissioner and provide consultancy services to projects in relation to compliance with data protection legislation.
To perform this role, applicants need a good working knowledge of the Data Protection Act, GDPR and Freedom of Information Acts, a basic awareness of Information Security, knowledge of the APP (Information Management) and the basic principles of records management. You will have experience in the use of computer systems, standard software packages and the use of spreadsheets and databases. You will be experienced in writing reports, procedures, briefing papers, etc.
With customer service skills you will have the ability to work on a number of tasks simultaneously and manage a broad and divergent workload as well as having the ability to assimilate and analyse information quickly.
