Infrastructure Specialist (12 Months Fixed Term Contract)

Our client are a leading contract development and manufacturing organisation that operate development and manufacturing facilities around the globe and are continuing to grow and expand their offering for customers. This organisation is focused on supporting pharmaceutical companies with a full service offering, taking products from early development through to commercial production.

The Role

As an experienced Infrastructure Engineer, you'll be responsible for providing 2/3rd line support for all site servers and network infrastructure ensuring the high availability of the systems and to support the business in achieving business goals.

You will ensure global and local IT standards are implemented and contribute to Global initiatives and the Holmes Chapel Site & UK Infrastructure design and direction as required. In this role, you'll also be involved in or responsible for project work to facilitate business\IS projects.

The successful will have strong experience in a large Information Technology organisation and hold a degree (or relavent experience) in a computer related science or related technical accreditations (MCSA etc). Any sector experience would be advantagous as an aspect of this role is the ability to design and implement systems in a compliant and validated fashion in accordance to regulatory guides.

Support, Maintenance, Optimisation

  • Use personal experience and knowledge in administering a Window Server based network and domain, including all related services, while optimising system usage, licensing performance and utilisation.
  • Assist in monitoring SLA & related KPI and make ensure the system(s) are running accordingly; Define & execute appropriate action plans based on system availability, performance and Incidents
  • Contribute to the definition and execution of preventive and maintenance actions, lifecycle management roadmaps, while leveraging and managing external provider relationships or services to ensure compliance of infrastructure, applications and data.
  • Takes personal accountability to identify, define & execute appropriate action plans to continuously improve, through providing the right services with the right quality at the right costs.
  • Optimisation of business continuity as it relates to infrastructure, organising and maintaining backups including Technical Recovery plan.
  • Participate in crisis activities and contribute to any planned/unplanned audit for systems, in close collaboration with ITS Manager and other Business Partners.

Design, Build, Deployment

  • Takes personal accountability to use personal experience and knowledge, as well as the training and tools provided by our client, to solution design. Ensuring business/user/ITS needs are understood, proposing improvements or evolutions to guarantee the reliability of the solution.
  • Takes personal accountability to design and develop new business solutions, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory requirements and with internal recommendations and standards (quality, security, architecture, etc.), in order to meet agreed user specification. Identifying both internal and external resource requirements, as well as utilising appropriate technologies.
  • Participate in user requirements collection, functional specifications and workload evaluations and provide required ITS deliverables. Contribute to the validation of the solution's impact and technical choices. While guaranteeing the quality of the documentation.

Ethical Accountability

  • Takes personal accountability to use personal experience and knowledge to maintain a good knowledge and understanding of all ethics and governance relevant to the role (including the Industry Code of Practice, Company Policies and Procedures and any relevant legal requirements); and demonstrate personal leadership in applying these to all work undertaken.
  • Participate in the development and design of standards (Security, architecture and quality)
  • Escalates any decisions, or seek the support of colleagues or management if personal knowledge and understanding is not at the level required to carry out any part of the role
