From system feasibility analyses of engineering problems and solutions, to fully incorporated design changes, Babcock support the entire product lifecycle. They provide a key component to ensuring that the nation's nuclear submarine fleet is operational and the nuclear deterrent is continuous.

As a Principal Safety Engineer within the Safety Services Group, you will be responsible for the delivery of Babcock International Group Engineering Service's technical outputs to time, cost and quality within Babcock, Programme and Engineering Design Support.

The Principal Safety Engineer will lead in the day to day management of Safety Services Group programme output delivery including; project identification and definition, budgetary constraints, resource allocation, technical oversight and stakeholder liaison.

As a Principal Safety Engineer you will be responsible for the continuous professional development of safety engineers within the Safety Services Group.

What do I need to do the role?

The preferred candidate would ideally be degree qualified or have significant experience working with submarine equipment systems. The preferred candidate would ideally have achieved CEng status with the Engineering Council, or IEng accredited and actively progressing application towards chartership. The preferred candidate would have significant experience of Safety and Environment Management principals across the maritime domain including; legislative requirements, Hazard Identification and Analysis (HIA) techniques, Environmental Impact Screening and Scoping, product lifecycle, safety case management and engineering assurance.

Lastly you will have suitable project management experience and be familiar with the delivery of technical outputs within a contractual framework and an understanding of submarine systems and engineering principles or a demonstrable background of operating experience.

What else do I need to know?

The post will be based in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services. You must be a sole UK national and hold 'Security Check' (SC) or 'Developed Vetting' (DV) security clearance.

This position is based in Keynsham, which is situated between Bristol (5 miles) and Bath (7 miles).
