Role Summary

Responsible for leading and developing the Engineering Applications team that sits within the Global Applications team. This team is responsible for delivering new Engineering Applications as well as enhancements to existing Engineering Applications across all sites in Meggitt in support of the regularly changing requirements of the company, function and the Divisions.
Applications covered by this role include Engineering Systems, and those associated with the Engineering business processes, including Engineering Design, Advanced Research & Technology, and Manufacturing Engineering.

Core Responsibilities

  • Creating and Maintaining a 1-3-5 Year Engineering Applications Roadmap that sets out the evolution of the Engineering Applications Portfolio
  • Forecasting demand for new applications & ensuring sufficient resources with the right skills are available to deliver the application portfolio
  • Inputting to the annual plan & budget to meet the forecasted demand
  • Managing the utilisation of the team and their suppliers/partners to ensure the right resources are available when needed
  • Ensuring the right project governance processes are followed to deliver projects on time & to budget
  • Creating clearly articulated Project Requests (CERs & Project Briefs) including business cases
  • Selecting new applications, in conjunction with the Head of Global Applications, Enterprise Architecture and IT Procurement teams, to meet these requirements
  • Enhancing existing applications to keep up with changing business requirements whilst ensuring consistency and continuity across all global processes
  • Managing the delivery of new applications and enhancements to existing applications in a timely and quality way.
  • This role is responsible for the delivery of Engineering Applications Programmes & Projects (both new & enhancements) and, as a member of the Applications Team, contributes to the formulation of IT policy and strategy and works with the Application area.


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
  • Experience of leading and Engineering Applications team as part of a Global Applications function;
  • Track record of successfully managing a blend of legacy and modern technologies and vendors;
  • Experience in a similar role working on projects ~ £5m+
  • Ownership for the delivery of applications into a number of the following areas:
    • Engineering Design/ Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
    • CAD
    • Product Simulation
    • Requirements Management
    • Software Lifecycle Management/Software Modelling
    • Issue and Problem Management
    • Advanced Technology & Research
    • Manufacturing Engineering
