Here at Serco, we are looking for an experienced Case Manager to join the Offender Management Unit at HMP & YOI Doncaster. Reporting into the OMU Hub Manager & Senior Probation Officer, your duties will include managing a caseload of low to high-risk offenders and forming a trusting working relationship, in order to support them in achieving their sentence plan goals and reducing the risk of reoffending.

As Prison Offender Manager, you will be the first point of contact for the offender and their external Community Offender Manager or you will be working alongside the Probation Offender Manager (POM) in the establishment as a Supporting POM. Other key activities will include:

  • Motivating the offender and helping them consolidate learning from the different interventions included in their sentence plan.
  • Maintaining regular face to face contact with offenders through supervision and helping them achieve their sentence plan goals.
  • Complete one to one work as identified within the sentence plan and complete risk assessments and other reports.

What you will need to do the role:

In order to carry out this role successfully, you will need to have a good understanding of Offender Management Unit work and some previous experience of working with offenders or other low to high-risk vulnerable groups. You must have experience of working within a busy office, with strong interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to liaise and negotiate at all levels. We are looking for someone with a good standard of education including English & Maths and ideally a degree in Criminal Justice or Psychology which would be desirable and beneficial to the role however this is not essential.

This is a great role for someone who is confident in their ability to work alone using their own initiative, as well as maintaining good working relationships with colleagues within their team.
