Job Details

Join a team where it's really possible to make a difference.

Greater Manchester Police is one of the largest police forces in the UK and is responsible for keeping its diverse population of almost 3 million safe, spread over more than 1,200 sq km.

This is an exciting time for the Force. We have an ambitious change programme, our Target Operating Model, which is transforming the way we work with partners and local communities to keep the people of Greater Manchester safe and secure.

Change & Transformation Branch is responsible for the Force's portfolio of four business change programmes, each of which is bringing about transformational change across the organisation, including structures, processes and technology.

We're looking for someone who can help to engage staff in our transformation through developing compelling communications. You must be able to work at pace, be able to transform complex material into clear and easy to understand messages and to target these to different stakeholder groups.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive communication support to the change programmes, engaging staff and officers in the changes being introduced and in the overall Force vision.

All applicants must have:

• experience in an internal communication officer role.
• demonstrable experience of planning and delivering successful change communications to support complex organisation wide change.
• a good understanding of employee engagement and of how to use channels to achieve aims.
• experience of measuring and evaluating communication activity.
• ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines with multiple competing demands.
• experience of working with senior leaders.
• copywriting and subediting experience.

Please see job description for full details of the role.

In line with the job description and leadership expectations associated with this role, candidates should complete a full application and provide responses to the two following questions in their supporting information:

1. Please consider the essential requirements of the job description.

Choose the three most critical requirements in your view and describe how your skills, capabilities and experience meet these (Max 600 words - 200 per selected requirement).

2. Please provide an overview of a change communication and engagement plan you have developed, delivered and evaluated.

Applications will be sifted against the 'essential and desirable' sections of the job description and the supporting information.

The role is based at Force Headquarters, but allows for agile working within Force policy guidelines.

GMP is committed to ensure that the make-up of our workforce is reflective of the communities we serve and we recognise that having a diverse workforce makes us more approachable and relevant to the public.
