Make a real impact, immediately We're looking for someone dynamic, ambitious and eager to make an impact to become our next ILS Chief Engineer.
 
Main purpose of role
We are looking for someone who will help us grow and to strategically lead the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Engineering Activities for DST.  We are looking for a leader who is ambitious, energetic, and value-driven to join us - In particular we want someone who will own the development of ILS activities across Babcock, and to help strategically align the way we do business through processes, procedures, tools, people and structure.
 
ILS is transforming and we want you to be the central focus and leader for our teams.  You will be a key interface for our internal teams, not only providing the strategy for the future of ILS in Babcock, but also helping to guide the way we develop bids, proposals and delivery programmes.  Also you will help our customers by engaging them and illustrating our capabilities in an engaging way, and our ILS teams by building a vision for the future.  You'll also provide a focal point and reference for delivery teams, to provide technical oversight, governance and assurance.
 
• In this role you will develop the ILS Strategy for Babcock, provide Leadership and Governance of activities and technical support to the various DST businesses.
• You will also provide technical oversight and influential guidance to the delivery of ILS activities, to improve delivery performance and quality, reduce technical cost, and delight the customer.
• We are looking for someone who will be a great communicator that will be a Subject Matter Expert on ILS at relevant forums, present at symposia, and Coach and Mentor individuals and guide programme teams to establish an ILS community within the Babcock Group.

Who we're looking for
We're ideally looking for a Chartered Engineer who will bring fresh ideas into our teams, someone who can offer a broad experience and influence the way we do our business. Someone who can listen and also guide the development space, working with our internal and external customers to create tangible improvements within DST and the wider Babcock.

This role requires someone with a broad ILS background. Someone with experience of working across the CADMID cycle within a dynamic development, support and sustainment environment.

The successful candidate will have a sound commercial knowledge & experience, but also be a great communicator with experience of leading teams in an engaging way.
 
Experience:
• A strategic thinker who has direct demonstrable experience of delivering transformational change in an organisation.
• An aspiring Engineering Leader who is comfortable with close Internal and External Customer Engagement and Technical Development and leading technical teams on complex solutions.
• An Experienced Engineer who has a demonstrable understanding of ILS and it's role within Systems Development and Qualification, Integration and Test, and ongoing In-Service Support.
• A candidate with experience with the development of a technical support and sustainment function, strategic change within a business, and practical implementation of a change programme.
• A demonstrable background of AR&M within the Military and Civil spaces, and experience of delivering programme against the relevant standards within Air, Land and Sea.
