The Role of a Digital Strategy Analyst

Assists the Head of Digital and Information Strategy in the formulation and management of the Air Digital and Information Strategy. Coordinates the activities of those engaged in the creation of Digital and Information Strategies, including technology experiments and demonstrations, across all functions and lines of business.

To work with other parts of the IM&T Function and operation to ensure there is a clear strategy created and communicated, with specific alignment into Capability Planning, Architecture, Engineering and Service Management, also with the DI business.

Expected Knowledge & Skills:

  • Maintains knowledge of specific technical specialisms, provides detailed advice regarding their application, executes specialised tasks.
  • Uses appropriate tools, including logical models of components and interfaces, to contribute to the development of future systems architectures in specific business or functional areas
  • Produces detailed enough component specifications and success criteria to perform robust product assessment and selection
  • The specialism can be any area of information or communication technology, architecture, technique, method, product or application area.
  • Provides advice on technical aspects of system development and integration (including requests for changes, deviations from specifications, etc.) and ensures that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices are applied correctly.

Core Duties:

  • Performs horizon scanning, external event support, participation and tracking
  • Supplier and partner liaison, resourcing, tools and environment acquisition
  • Sow and scope agreement, planning
  • Cost / value analysis
  • Management of experiments and PoX activities
  • External partner collaboration
  • Supporting the engagement plan and interaction management

Stakeholder Management support

  • Creating, maintaining and enacting the Stakeholder plan,
  • Stakeholder engagement, action management and resolution

Portfolio management support

  • Responsible for Keeping the digital portfolio up to date, portfolio analysis
  • Mapping of As Is and to be states against the Digital framework

Programme Management support

  • Sponsor and steering group meeting planning and organisation, agenda, content consolidation/creation, minutes, actions
  • Integration work stream management
  • Working group and work package support and liaison
  • Planning and budgeting
  • Business case creation
  • IBP input

Organisational integration support to;

  • IM&T and DI integration, responsible for the management of
  • Liaison with capability planning, architecture, engineering, service
  • BAES integration
  • Liaison with CTO, Maritime, Land and Submarines digital activities

Further Responsibilities / Deliverables:

    Builds on and refines appropriate outline ideas for the evaluation, development, demonstration and implementation of research.Contributes to research goals and funding proposals.Collects and analyses qualitative and quantitative data as required. Creates research reports to communicate research methodology, findings and conclusions.Develops prototypes or simulations to support decision-making.Provides advice and guidance to support adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards. Tailors processes in line with agreed standards and evaluation of methods and tools. Reviews and improves usage and application of methods and tools.Defines the required behaviour and performance of the system, product or service in terms of the total user experience, resolving potential conflicts between differing user requirements. Specifies measurable criteria for the required usability and accessibility of the system, products and services.Delivers projects in collaboration with project and programme managementUnderstands system strategies that map out the future systems landscape and roadmap
