About the role
We're looking for several Material Engineers to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy and are proud to be the UK's leading submarine support provider. We're entrusted with the upkeep and deep maintenance of our Nation's submarines, which have been compared to the space shuttle in terms of complexity and are one of the most challenging engineering projects undertaken in the UK. 

Whilst we continue to provide the Royal Navy with safe, highly capable Vanguard and Trafalgar classes of submarine, we are also preparing for the future. The Astute class represents the largest, most advanced and most powerful attack submarines ever operated by the Royal Navy. As a Material Engineer you'll join our established, but developing team; you'll be part of an exciting transformation across our project management and project controls function, driving world class project delivery performance.

You'll provide support to the planning and delivery processes of the Submarines Business Projects, ensuring governance of all Project Management principles and compliance with all working practices, standards of discipline, safety and quality. You'll provide support to the material demand output; analysing and vetting the Work Specification to ensure a detailed understanding of the Customer requirements ensuring that the material demand meets the requirements for quality and an appropriate representation of the Customer requirements.
 
What do I need to do the role?
You'll need to be qualified to a minimum of an ONC in an Engineering Discipline. However, consideration will be given to an applicant who has significant/transferable experience in a relevant engineering based subject or role.
 
We would also like you to have knowledge and experience of submarine systems, however, experience within a marine based engineering environment would be considered, as relevant training will be provided to the successful candidates.
 
What else do I need to know?
The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
