Up to £36,000 plus car and benefits

Here at Serco we are recruiting for a commercial automotive Service Technician / Workshop Mechanic who will be required to repair, maintain, inspect all Serco commercial vehicles within our fleet maintenance facilities. Working in accordance with Driver Vehicle and Standards Agency guidelines you will complete diagnostic tests using manual tools and technological devices, and work with clients and co-workers to establish a timeframe for the completion of each inspection or repair.

You'll also be involved in:

  • Consulting contract CPC holders, ensuring safety inspections are planned, identify vehicle faults and repairs as necessary
  • Conducting vehicle test drives after repairs have been completed to ensure roadworthiness
  • Ensuring workshop equipment is serviceable, tested and maintained, and operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety measures.
  • Ensuring all inspection and repair documentation, either manually or electronically, after work, has been completed on the vehicle.


What you need to do the job

You will need to have a full industry recognised qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Level 3) and you will need to hold a LGV Driving Licence and Drivers Certificate of Professional Competence, and be able to demonstrate good welding skills. Experience with Refuse Vehicles is highly desirable.

You will naturally be experienced in maintaining large fleets and be comfortable in proactively engaging with a variety of customers to improve relationships for long-term value.

You will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and be able to articulate to a number of stakeholders effectively, at all seniority levels. We are looking for strongly value led individuals with excellent judgement and decision making skills, who are highly resilient individuals capable of being challenged.

Please note you maybe required to work outside of normal working hours when operationally required.
