As our business continues to grow at a significant pace we're looking for talented, enthusiastic and driven people to join or procurement team and help take us to new heights.

The difference our new Assistant Buyer will make

We're looking for talented people with an interest in procurement and supply chain who will help generate significant value for the business by reducing the total cost of bought in goods and services and help manage supplier relationships to increase the overall value derived from the supply chain. As the link between our suppliers and the wider business, your duties will include:
  • Preparing, issuing and reviewing supplier RFQs, recommending preferred options to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Conversion of purchase requisitions into purchase orders and issuing to suppliers.
  • Taking ownership of purchase order books, expediting and proposing risk management where required.
  • Manage supplier relationships and support supplier performance improvement.
  • Ensure data accuracy of the ERP system is maintained with valid pricing and purchase requirements.
  • Manage Goods In and Invoice queries associated with your order book.

You continuously champion high performance, challenge the status quo and actively proposes new ideas on how we can make things better and always puts the customer first.

Experience

A recognised degree level qualification and / or relevant engineering / supply chain / lean culture experience.
Willingness to obtain Procurement and Supply Chain skills and qualifications.
Experience in working in a team to deliver shared objectives.
Procurement experience, ideally in an operational procurement environment (desirable).
Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. CIPS (desirable).

Skills and attributes

Must have a flexible approach to workload and the drive to go the extra mile for our customers.
Must be self-motivated and willing to develop new skills.
Ability to establish relationships with key stakeholders across the business and our supply chain.
Ability to communicate at all levels of the business.
A good understanding of Babcock's business and objectives.
Working knowledge of and experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and IFS (desirable).
