Job Details

We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to support effective contract management and administration of NEC contracts including pre-contract and post-contract support. The role will include understanding the project cost base, undertaking cost analysis and benchmarking, supporting project managers with discharging the NEC contract suite, (communication management, compensation event assessments and applications for payment). This will be across a portfolio of complex infrastructure projects range from £1m to £20m contract values. This role is critical to ensuring robust execution of our contracts and proactively issue resolution to support on time and on cost delivery.

Location - Reading area

As a Quantity Surveyor you will develop typically higher value, complex contract cost models (Bills of Quantities, Schedules of Rates, Activity Schedules, Milestones) for use in the contract documentation, ensuring these comply with the project brief, timescales, budget estimates, all relevant M&O contractual requirements, legislation and regulations whilst keeping abreast of changes in the market and the competitive environment in which the suppliers operate to enhance value for money.

We are looking for the Quantity Surveyor to have:

  • A-Levels or equivalent at Grade C or above to include Maths and English
  • Membership to Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) accredited
  • Proven knowledge of contractual arrangements
  • Accuracy in data analysis, and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Numerate and able to translate and analyse a supplier's financial data
  • Use of contract management tools e.g. CEMAR
  • Pre-contract measurement and the production of cost plans and bills of quantities
  • Influencing supplier negotiations
  • Proven knowledge of contractual arrangements
  • Experience in validating payments, claims and final accounts against performance measures
  • Ability to translate, analyse and communicate financial performance against contract progress
  • Experience in working with NEC Contracts
  • Experience in working in a multi-discipline team
