Role Summary

The Procurement Apprentice will perform a variety of purchasing activities including processing purchase orders, managing supplier delivery schedules, pricing, negotiating terms, and inventory management with suppliers. Applies government laws and regulations while conducting procurement activities and ensures alignment with management objectives.

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Review MRP (SAP) order action messages, maintain schedule and visibility, identify and resolve issues until shipment. Issue purchase orders. Negotiate price and deliveries that are consistent with schedule needs
  • Manage supplier delivery schedules required to accomplish the production schedule goals
  • Completion of the Level 4 Diploma in Procurement & Supply with the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply & Apprenticeship training requirements
  • Depending on the role you will be fulfilling, additional activity will include:
  • In-Direct procurement support including implementation of strategic supplier segmentation project
  • Supply Chain Operations support including S&OP, inventory reduction and procurement operations projects
  • Standardizing packaging project, together with sub-contract management and work apparel contract


Qualification & Skills

  • 2 A levels in any subject and 5 GCSEs at grade A*-C or equivalent, including English and Maths
  • Requires excellent planning, organizational and motivational skills.
  • Requires strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Computerized MRP system
  • Requires strong interpersonal communications (written and verbal) with a positive attitude and ability to motivate others
  • Have the ability to prioritize workload and complete tasks on a timely basis
  • Have the ability to maintain flexibility and be adaptable to the ever-changing needs of the company
