We're looking for someone dynamic, ambitious and eager to make an impact to become our next Critical Communications System Engineer.

Main purpose of role
You will undertake Systems Engineering (SE) activities and produce technical information in support of all Mission System - Critical Communications projects and new business opportunities across the SE lifecycle.

You will deliver tasks which will encompass the following areas of competency:
System concepts, System capability issues, Enterprise and technology environment, Determining and managing stakeholder requirements, Architectural design, Concept generation, Design for attributes (such as safety, security, ARM, etc), Functional analysis, Interface management, Maintaining design integrity, Modelling and simulation, Preferred solution selection, System robustness, Systems integration, verification/validation and Transition to operation
You will also provide engineering expertise in the military communications domain and associated IT network/Infrastructure

Finally, you will support Bid/Proposal Managers for the following:
• New business development supporting feasibility studies, support to competitor analysis, responding to pre-qualifying questionnaires (PQQ)/invitations to tender (ITT) and attending related internal/external meetings;
• Follow technical enquiries through the business acquisition process, taking responsibility for areas of expertise;
• To develop and write sections of proposals relating to area of expertise;
• Interfacing with potential sub-contractors to identify technical solutions for specific system requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences
Preferably, you will be a degree qualified, chartered engineer or working towards chartered status within a recognised and relevant professional body. Alternatively you may hold an HNC/D or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline in concert with significant and demonstrable subject matter expertise in the system domain.

You will also require experience of MoD working practices as well as experience of System Acceptance & Installation Acceptance and considerable knowledge of Engineering discipline. ((Electrical/ Electronic/ Mechanical/Information Systems / Communication Systems/ Engineering)

Finally, we would like you to have the following:
  • Knowledge of or experience in commissioning communications systems and shore facilities.
  • Knowledge of or experience in network installation and configuration.
  • Knowledge of or experience in Computer System operating systems.
  • Communication Skills both verbal and written
