Job Designation
Implementation and maintenance of the Customs Compliance Programme for all European and Asian sites within the Regional Shared Service. All International trade transactions, globally, are undertaken in a compliant manner to government controls appropriate to the business location. Ensure continuous development and determine the strategies of customs regulatory programmes for each site.
Full knowledge of Customs Procedures pertaining to import and export. Responsible for maintaining this compliance and supporting the businesses to comply.
Devise and introduce programmes which reduce risk and mitigate duty liability, within the validity of the site procedure. Advising sites on the daily operation of Customs Procedures.

Job Core Responsibilities
- Assisting the GTS Team to develop the use of customs procedures to the benefit of all sites.
- Maintaining a current knowledge of Brexit and its effects on customs requirement.
- Maintaining AEO standards and liaise with Security and Safety teams. Assisting and directing the application for all Europe and Asia sites for local AEO.
- Must be acceptable by HMRC under Section 5 of AEO as the 'Person Responsible for Customs Matters' and liaise with the Company Secretary for each limited company in the group concerning required changes in the AEO
- Ensure all Customs Reporting is complete, accurate and timely.
- Directing the oversight of brokers and persons acting as brokers to ensure compliance in customs matters.
- Maintain the Customs Comprehensive Guarantee and liaise with Head of Tax for bank guarantee requirements.
- Liaise with Head of Tax for import VAT strategies
- Liaise with Head of Tax and CFO for annual SAO statement to Customs
Job Specifications
- Strong managerial experience and must have held a senior position within a team managing customs activities.
- Advanced knowledge of Customs Procedures with emphasis on control of all Customs Special Procedures and implement these procedures commensurate to the site's ability to operate.
- Advanced knowledge on Origin, Tariff Classification and Customs Valuation (including advisory on Incoterms) and that of Record Keeping.
- Ability to understand customs requirements from written customs laws and regulations, in all European and Asian jurisdictions in which Meggitt operate.
- Diplomatic Skills to ensure incorporation of regulatory requirements and best practice in local procedures. The issuing of Customs Processes to each site to enable local Customs Compliance Procedures to be developed by the business. Particularly important are UK; EU; EEA; China; Viet Nam and Singapore.
- Sound knowledge of International Supply Chains
- Fully understand the use of MSS Data; with EORI Branch Reports for multi-sites companies. This offers the ability to audit the site against customs data.
