Senior Submarine Repair Specialist - Defuel
SF28791
Location: Devonport, Plymouth

About the role

We're looking for a Senior Submarine Repair Specialist to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.
The facilities and infrastructure at Devonport are key enablers to the site's ability to support both the Warship and Submarine Programmes. It is essential that the right infrastructure capabilities are in place to support the needs of the MoD's future programmes.

The Major Infrastructure Project Business Unit has been formed to oversee a portfolio of work which includes the development and implementation of a Strategic Plan to meet the infrastructure requirements for the next 30 years.

The User Acceptance Group (UAG) is responsible for defining the user requirements for new facilities that will enable both fleet time and deep maintenance activities to be undertaken in Devonport. The scope now includes, in addition to new facilities, the requirements for the upgrade of current facilities including the continuing use of 15 dock and for the defuel programme in 14 dock.
The UAG team is expanding and is seeking to fill a variety of roles across a broad discipline front and seek subject matter experts who have a significant demonstrable experience in nuclear submarine operations and maintenance and/or nuclear facility upkeep.
You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and will be involved with all aspects of UAG operations. This particular post specifically leads on defuel operations within the Submarine Refit Complex and requires specific experience and qualifications in the following areas;
  • Defuel procedures and processes
  • Knowledge of Safety cases and nuclear logic.
  • Familiarity with the SRC (Submarine Refit Complex)
  • Authorisation Groups
Qualifications:
  • Engineering qualification in relevant engineering discipline with significant demonstrable experience
  • Ideally a member of a relevant institution
  • Proven managerial experience
Additional:
As part of your application, please also provide a Cover Letter explaining your experience relevant to this position.
