About the Role
The Business Improvement team sits within Engineering Services, a Centre of Excellence for engineering capability and professional development. As the primary engineering function in Naval Marine, Engineering Services provides technical outputs and solutions to enable submarine and warship availability and fit for purpose infrastructure; supporting our programmes while understanding and proactively managing platform safety.

Professional engineering capability is also deployed to major acquisitions and strategic programmes, such as Future Platforms and Global Reach Platform Management, to secure future services and enable Naval Marine growth.

The Platform Engineering Team provides in-service support to the Royal Navy's fleet of Submarines. The Business Improvement Team manages projects and activities across the Platform Engineering Team to change the way the organisation conducts business.

What do I need to do the role
You'll need to be personable, professional, and driven with the ability to engage people at all professional business levels. Working with a high level of developed knowledge; the role is accountable for design, development and determining solutions to problems and issues.

You will be experienced in:
• Carrying out technical investigations and analysis to provide data for problem assessment or resolution and for design of improvements.
• Contributing to process improvement within the operational and/or design lifecycle to deliver continuous improvements in quality, cycle times and asset utilisation.
• Providing help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working and their development.

You will:
• Be a member of an accredited body such as IMechE, IET or APM and be able to obtain Incorporated or Chartered status within 12 months.
• Naval experience operating on a submarine.
• Qualifications of HND level or above in a STEM subject.
• An engineering background, experience as a project engineer or project management experience within an engineering organisation.

Desired:
• Obtained Incorporated or Chartered status with an accredited body
