About the role

Here at Babcock International we are looking to recruit a Finance Business Partner to join our Aviation division.

Our military customers trust us to support their air power requirements, allowing them to focus on their core mission. Whatever the task, we pride ourselves on the discipline, talent and agility that are at the heart of each of our operations. Our dedication and focus have been on aviation and air power for over 100 years. Supporting over 70% of all UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) flying training hours and with an 11-year contract for military flying training programmes with the French state, our military aviation operations continue to expand across Europe, offering Armed Forces world-class expertise at a local level.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will lead and support on all financial aspects of major bids and growth projects within the UK Military Air Business Unit.

The role will be focused on providing financial leadership, cost modelling and data analysis for individual projects and bids, but will also provide support in all other areas of business growth; including the provision of bid and financial appraisals, budgeting and financial management, pipeline and order book management and strategic planning.

The role requires flexibility on location and working hours as bids and projects dictate, but the majority of time would be spent in Bristol, where the Finance team is based.

Your key deliverables will include:

  • To develop and maintain detailed financial models relating to bids, strategy and new business, ensuring the financial integrity of these models
  • To support bids and rebids as required, and assume responsibility for the integrity of financial data used in bid models and submissions (at all stages of the bid process), ensuring compliance with Group bid policies at all times
  • Optimisation of bid constructs in line with Regulatory frameworks e.g. IFRS15
  • Working capital management and cash optimisation/management especially with regard to bid constructs
  • Financial support into new contract implementations

What do I need to do the role?
We would like you to have experience in all or some of these areas:

  • Qualified accountant - ACCA / ACA / CIMA or equivalent
  • Experience within "Big-4" chartered firm is highly desirable
  • Advanced Excel skills to include financial modelling
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

What else do I need to know?
  • Permanent role
  • Based in Bristol - brand new offices with parking
  • Competitive salary, plus bonus & car allowance
  • Chance to join a high-growth area of our organisation
