Our client is a rapidly expanding consultancy with expertise in project and programme management, strategic change management, technical leadership, cost engineering, risk management, and systems modelling. They are currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineering Consultant with project management experience in highly regulated sectors, especially nuclear. Their clients are diverse and international in nature; including infrastructure operators, governments, tier one contractors and equipment/system manufacturers across the Energy, Defence and Government sectors.

Our client has experience of the nuclear, upstream oil and gas and renewable industries. The Energy Practice is looking to grow significantly by providing a unique service to the nuclear industry, based on multi-disciplinary experience, combined with their understanding of the industry and regulatory regime.

The role will be varied and challenging, with the successful candidate contributing to ensuring safe and reliable operations within the practice, taking a role in supporting and developing their nuclear business with support to the wider company as required.

Principal accountabilities and attributes include:

Experience of working within the nuclear industry (experience of civil nuclear generation, would be advantageous); familiarity with nuclear safety principles and standards, and involvement with safety case production in a claims, arguments and evidence format
Have an awareness of engineering design principles, and demonstrate an ability to apply a systematic approach to the solution of problems
Demonstrable experience of working within a multi-discipline engineering team with an understanding of other disciplines' constraints and requirements
A good appreciation of project management, including controls, planning and estimating and preparation of deliverable/work package documentation
A proven track record of achievement in a mechanical engineering environment driven through personal motivation, and an inquisitive mind.

Skills and Qualifications:

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a science discipline; be working towards, or have achieved, chartered status
Thorough understanding and proven experience of mechanical engineering fundamentals
Individuals possessing a Consulting background are highly desirable.
You must be willing to travel and stay away from home on a regular basis for extended periods
Project management experience is essential
Exposure to oil and gas sectors would be beneficial
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
