Interim Principal Analyst (Costs and Force Structure)

You will be part of The Force Structure Analysis team. We work with Head Office and Front Line Commands, using a range of quantitative and qualitative analytical techniques to support senior decision making focussing on force structure and affordability. You will be in a dynamic environment working with, and leading, multidisciplinary teams to deliver analysis directly to the customers, building relationships to ensure that we can give timely, credible advice.

The vacancy is for a highly numerate analyst, whose principal focus will be looking to provide guidance on delivering an affordable Defence programme, using a variety of techniques including balance of investment, strategic costs / finance analysis and force structure analysis.

Strategic cost analysis

You will be expected to:
• Support the delivery of high quality outputs in a timely fashion.
• Provide a strong contribution of leading and supporting others.
• Work effectively as part of a team on a number of studies.
• Develop an understanding of MoD policy, capability planning and financial processes.
• Identify opportunities for improving analysis methods and tools.
• Develop and maintain an effective network of customers and key stakeholders in the capability and finance areas of MOD, academia and industry.

Essential:

• Proven analytical capability across multiple areas, including the costs and force structure analysis environment.
• Experience of using a diverse range of force structure, cost and BOI analysis methodologies.
• Capable of building and maintaining good internal and external relationships.
• Confident, professional presentation style, capable of communicating complex issues clearly and concisely.
• Evidence of delivering work to stretching timescales.
• Ability to assist in the development of colleagues in their area of expertise.
• Track record of successful delivery of customer requirements.

Desirable:
• Experience of Working in MoD/Industrial Teams.
• Familiar with influencing and engaging with senior management and stakeholders.
