Based in Rosyth

About the role

Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a Mechanical Piping Design Engineer to join our Liquified Gas Equipment (LGE) Division. We design and supply cargo handling systems for liquefied gas ships that carry Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) across the globe. Current projects are mainly in South Korea and China at the biggest shipyards in the world and we are involved in numerous other projects and locations.
Based at our Head Office at Rosyth, you will be part of an experienced and supportive team of Engineers and you will integrate and support numerous engineering departments. You will develop piping system designs with cost effective technical solutions, prepare technical datasheets, material lists, calculations, reports and installation/commissioning procedures. You will also review, check and approve piping isometrics and support the development of PI&D's.

What do I need to do the role?

You'll need to have experience of Mechanical Piping Design within a highly regulated industry and hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
We would also like you to have the following:
  • Good working knowledge of MathCAD, AutoCAD, AutoPIPE (or equivalent)
  • Experience working to design codes (experience of ASME VIII, ASTM, BS and EN codes)
  • Pipe Stress Analysis (PSA) and/or Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
