About the job Summary

The UK Financial Intelligence Unit (UKIFU) sits at the heart of the international response to money laundering and terrorist finance. It has responsibility for receiving, analysing and disseminating Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), from the private sector, taking action on these reports and disseminating to partners. It provides the intelligence “engine room” for law enforcement action against money laundering and terrorist financing.
The UKFIU is currently being expanded and enhanced and a Home Office-led SARs reform programme is developing significant improvements to the regime. This includes replacing and transforming the SARs IT systems and related business change. All of which will ensure the effective running of the system and enable transformation of the SARs regime so that it provides a more effective response to money laundering and terrorist finance.

SARs Reform Law Enforcement Engagement officers will be responsible for engaging with Police Forces and other Law Enforcement Agencies across the UK.

The key responsibilities will be to design, implement and deliver an engagement strategy for the new Bank Account Portal and SARs Reform and to develop and oversee the delivery of an extensive training package for Police Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies.

They will support the enhanced exploitation of SARs by all Law Enforcement Agencies through training, sharing good practice and collaboration, support for expert users, management information and visits, supporting low usage agencies, mainstreaming policy, other data sets and future IT requirements

Job description

Manage a Team and oversee the development of extensive training materials and guidance for the new Arena SARs system in time for the system launch.

Ensure a comprehensive training package is developed.

Ensure Law Enforcement Agencies are trained in the new system.

Engage with Police Forces and other Law Enforcement Agencies.
 

Responsibilities

• An understanding of crime and the illicit finance landscape including good understanding of relevant legislation (UK and international) affecting UKFIU activity.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience of assessing information and presenting results.

• Experience in effective decision making with accountability for decisions made

• Ability to engage credibly with Law Enforcement Partners

• Previous Management experience

• Previous experience as a Financial Investigator or understanding of criminal investigation procedures including intelligence development, information/intelligence management and disclosure and previous experience of using Arena and Moneyweb is desirable

Technical skills
