These roles are available in our London site. We are also looking to build a pipeline of candidates in our main hubs located in London, Warrington, Bristol and Birmingham. When completing the online application form you will be given the opportunity to state up to three preferred locations.

As a Senior Manager within Intelligence Directorate, you will lead the strategic management, development and delivery of National Crime Agency (NCA) operational capability and oversee a multi-functional team responsible for the development of tactical and strategic intelligence and/or prevention initiatives, focused on serious and organised crime affecting the UK.

Job description

Those involved in child sexual abuse and exploitation target the most vulnerable and innocent members of our community. The NCA works tirelessly and diligently against these individuals and you may be expected to work directly or indirectly in tackling this threat. This may involve exposure to child sexual abuse images and material and you should consider and be aware of the sensitive nature of the work before deciding to apply. To provide support all officers working on or assisting this type of operational activity undergo a psychological assessment on taking up the role and at regular intervals once in post. By applying you confirm that, if asked, you will be willing to work with us on operations to tackle these serious and high risk offenders.

You could be deployed to work on any type of investigation, including, but not limited to Child Sexual Exploitation, Cyber or Financial investigations. Developing our leaders is important to us therefore we are planning to undertake a review of leadership and talent at this grade across the Agency in the coming months. Depending on the timing of appointments from this campaign, new joiners may be in-scope.

These roles are also available on a secondment basis for up to two years.
 

Responsibilities

To be considered, you will need to successfully complete SC Enhanced clearance before commencing the role with the ability to obtain a DV and STRAP clearance at a later date.

You will also be required to undertake a mandatory pre-employment substance misuse test and achieve a satisfactory result.

Technical skills

We'll assess you against these technical skills during the selection process:

  • Thorough understanding of the use of intelligence and evidence by law enforcement agencies
  • Knowledge and understanding of intelligence collection methods and techniques;
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. CPIA, ECHR) and its impact on the role and Agency activity
  • Experience in managing both tactical and strategic intelligence functions/resourcing
  • A thorough understanding of information management and data integrity issues
  • The ability to evaluate and recommend actions to mitigate threats to government, security, law and order
