Job Details

The UK Financial Intelligence Unit (UKIFU) sits at the heart of the international response to money laundering and terrorist finance. It has responsibility for receiving, analysing and disseminating Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), from the private sector, taking action on these reports and disseminating to partners. It provides the intelligence “engine room” for law enforcement action against money laundering and terrorist financing.

The UKFIU is currently being expanded and enhanced and a Home Office-led SARs reform programme is developing significant improvements to the regime. This includes replacing and transforming the SARs IT systems and related business change. All of which will ensure the effective running of the system and enable transformation of the SARs regime so that it provides a more effective response to money laundering and terrorist finance.

Job description

The successful candidates will be part of a team whose responsibility is to research, record and retain information, develop options, make recommendations and test their impact in conjunction with operational functions across the UKFIU.

UKFIU Researchers will conduct research activity using a wide variety of sources, maintaining records of information, analysing that information and presenting findings and recommendations to support: UKFIU domestic and international operations; law enforcement and regulatory activity; anti-money laundering/terrorist finance activity in the private sector; and the effectiveness of the UK SARs regime as a whole.
 

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities will include:

• Experience of researching information within law enforcement, considering that information and communicating the options and recommendations to influence decision making
• Substantial knowledge of relevant legislation and policy within law enforcement
• Good knowledge of data management alongside risk identification, assessment and management within law enforcement

Technical skills

We'll assess you against these technical skills during the selection process:
