The UK Protected Persons Service (UKPPS) provides authorised protection to individuals judged to be at risk of serious harm. The UKPPS delivers specialist protection measures using both traditional methods and covert capabilities that are not replicated within UK Law Enforcement.

Job description

The Relocations team within the Central Services Unit of the UKPPS are responsible for the delivery of the National Witness Mobility Service (NWMS).The post holder will provide day to day management of the team responsible for the provision of the NWMS.

The team provides specialist services, advice, and support to the UKPPS, and other law enforcement agencies in relation to the provision of social housing.
 

Responsibilities

As a UKPPS Relocations Officer you will:
• Working within team of officers, managing your own casework, inbox management and other activities on a daily basis.
• Negotiate the provision of social housing as a long term settlement arrangement for persons at risk of serious harm.
• Assist the team in the design and deliver a new engagement strategy for liaison with relevant public housing authorities and government departments over the next 12 months.
• Assist the team in the design and delivery a new upskilling/training package to UKPPS operations teams over the next 12 months on the subject of housing and NWMS relocation services.
• Balance the needs of operational units with local housing policy and provision of properties.
• Contribute to any relevant project work relating to various aspects of Central Services, working with internal and external stakeholders fostering collaborative working and maintaining effective working relationships.
• Assist in the redesigning of the paper processes currently in place to digitise the service using the current case management system.
• Develop and maintain the case management system to ensure system accuracy, security and confidentiality (as appropriate).
• Regularly report and brief Senior Officers on issues affecting provision of social housing.

Technical skills

We'll assess you against these technical skills during the selection process:

  • • Working knowledge of the social housing sector, including homelessness legislation.
  • • Effective negotiating, influencing and interpersonal skills
  • • Knowledge of secure working practices, to include working with highly sensitive information.
