Job Details

The UK Protected Persons Service provides authorised protection to individuals judged to be at risk of serious harm. The UKPPS delivers specialist protection measures using both traditional methods and covert capabilities that are not replicated within UK Law Enforcement.

This is a new role and it requires extensive stakeholder engagement, particularly during the development of the function. This includes potentially line managing a network of covert finance officers, and working in conjunction with NCA Finance and NCA Covert Structures.

Job description

The main responsibilities of a Covert Finanace Senior Officer can include:
• To line manage and support regional covert finance officers, including chairing and attending working groups
• Adhering to a robust audit process, and providing statutory and regulatory financial reports
• Working with the NCA Covert Structures Team, managing/reviewing the covert accounting structure
• Developing efficiencies, including supporting implementation of the Financial module on the bespoke case management system
• On behalf of the budget holder, analysing financial spend, ensuring budgets are correctly aligned and recommending opportunities for efficiency savings
• To set up a covert finance unit within the UK Protected Persons Service, working with NCA Finance and NCA Covert Structures.
 

Responsibilities

This is a brand new role, involving the formation of a dedicated covert finance unit. It requires a flexible, self-motivated candidate with a working knowledge of financial practices and experience within an accountancy department. The candidate must be an excellent communicator, with the ability to engage and secure commitment from a range of stakeholders.

This post is based in the UKPPS team and not in a dedicated Finance Department

Candidates will be required to demonstrate the following experience during the selection process:
• Experience of working in an accounting environment
• Experience of analysing information from a range of sources

Technical skills

  • Excellent interpersonal/customer service skills
