About the role

We currently have an opportunity for six Mechanical Fitters to join a growing team which is responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on facilities at HM Naval Base Clyde.

You will be responsible for investigating and diagnosing faults, repairing and maintaining mechanical aspects of facilities such as heating systems, ventilation systems, generators, compressors, mechanical pressure systems and other mechanical equipment.

It is important that applicants are comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.

The salary for this role is £31,164.

What do I need to do the role?

You will have previous Mechanical Fitter experience and a recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).

You will have experience of working on one or more of the following:

  • Heating and ventilation systems
  • Boilers / Steam, LTHW and MTHW systems
  • Compressed air systems
  • Mechanical pressure systems
You will demonstrate a strong focus on delivering high quality workmanship to agreed timescales and are fully aware of the importance of applying stringent Health and Safety principles within the workplace, along with strong team working and interpersonal skills.

What else do I need to know?

This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, with easy access for car and public transport.
