We are currently looking to recruit G4 Senior Infrastructure Engineers at either our London or Leicester sites.

These roles are also available on a secondment basis for up to 2 years.

The Targeted Intercept Engineering team sits within Capability Development in Technology Command.

Capability Development’s new approach was created as part of a recent restructuring, which is:

- Overall coordination of the agency’s investment strategy and roadmap for capability development and skills growth.

- Deployment of hi-end capabilities in support of live operations, providing NCA with capabilities for 21st century law enforcement.

- Capability Development leads on specifying, designing, developing, delivering and supporting new technical capabilities (operational, business, back office and corporate) across the agency.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

In a team of IT professionals, the infrastructure engineer will be using their skills and expertise to:

- Support the development, maintenance and enhancement of technical capabilities.

- Participate in building new services on multiple platforms, maintaining core functionality and providing technical guidance for colleagues across the Unit.

- Gather, record and document customer requirements within the agency for remote Intelligence applications and define detailed requirements including use cases, and feature specifications.

- Manage software defects, ensuring they are tracked, investigated and corrected whether found within internal or third-party software.

- Work collaboratively with the service support, infrastructure teams and non-technical user groups. Identify issues which will involve other teams, facilitate and support fault resolution and project handover.

- Manage the lifecycle of own projects and those of others including design, testing, change, deployment and acceptance management.

To be considered, you will need to successfully complete an SC Enhanced clearance before commencing the role, with the ability to obtain DV within the first 6 months in post.

You will also be required to undertake a mandatory pre-employment substance misuse test and achieve a satisfactory result.
 

Responsibilities

To be successful in this role you will need to manage the NCA’s resources to design and develop applications and tools to a professional standard and to meet user requirements.

You will create and maintain robust systems to process visualise and analyse intelligence. You will maintain and provide 2nd/3rd line support for these applications.

You will be able to demonstrate the technical criteria set out below:

- Cisco network infrastructure - dealing with support, maintenance and upgrades

- Microsoft MSCP 2nd and 3rd line support and Oracle database administrator

- Windows and network infrastructure - dealing with support, maintenance and upgrades

- A good working understanding of network principles


The following criteria is essential for the role:

- Relevant degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or Mathematics or equivalent relevant experience.

One or more of the following is desirable but not essential for the role:

- Knowledge and experience of Object Oriented programming.

- ICND1 or CCNA

Additional Information

The NCA is a 24/7 organisation and working patterns must support business requirements. You may occasionally be asked to respond at short notice or outside of core hours but this it is not an essential requirement to do so.

On occasions officers may be required to travel throughout the UK and overseas.

NCA are able to offer these opportunities on a permanent and secondment basis.

You could be deployed to work on any type of investigation, including, but not limited to child sexual abuse and exploitation, cyber investigations or financial investigations.
