About the role
We're looking for a Business Support Advisor to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.
Working closely with the Business Support & Improvements Manger you will provide support to a wide range of business improvement and support activities including Integrated Business Planning, events management, monthly reporting, improvement activity. you will be required to have a high level of customer focus. Your responsibilities include:

• To assist the Facilities Business Improvement Team (BIT) in delivering a wide range of strategic Business Improvement initiatives and TCO projects
• To assist the BIT in introducing Strategic changes to the Facilities Business Unit (FBU) operational areas, ensuring they are aligned to the overall M&T strategic direction
• Supporting IBP process by running regular detailed MS Dynamics reports, reviewing for accuracies and applying condition formatting as required. In depth knowledge on of Excel spreadsheets.
• Generating regular management reports in support of the IBP process to tight timescales, ensuring accuracy of information.
• Ensuring close liaison with Finance teams, enabling the smooth development of IBP information.
• Assist in researching, developing business cases and implementing Safety Improvement initiatives within FBU departments
• To support the BIT in continually seeking out industry best practices and process improvements for assessment and potential implementation within the Business. Develop networking opportunities that can bring benefits to the company
• To support the identification and standardisation of metrics and measures across the business (both input and output) that can be used to determine performance improvements and operational effectiveness
• Provide appropriate support to corporate events, specifically where linked to customer organisations eg. Families Day
• Provide specialist support to other support functions including the Quality group, TCO and Central Transformation Project Team including data analysis, project management and risk management

What do I need to do the role?
The role requires a self-motivating, organised individual, with an understanding of operating within the business improvement arena. Project Management experience is desirable and the post holder must have a high level of experience of using excel to manipulate large data sets. The post holder should be familiar with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint. Ability to operate in a partnering environment with an aptitude for high customer service levels with a high level of customer focus.
A qualification in a business discipline (engineering would also be beneficial) would be beneficial for this role. A formal lean management qualification is desirable.

• The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
