About the role
Here at Babcock we are recruiting a Principal Compliance Engineer to join an established team to ensure that high-risk engineering activities and assets across HMNB Clyde comply with relevant legislation, regulation and industry good practice. You will lead a team of 5 Engineers to ensure all output is delivered in line with contractual requirements and driving continuous improvements at all times.

What do I need to do the role?
You must be a Chartered Engineer with a seasoned background as a Lead/Principal Engineer and experience working in a highly regulated, high-hazard industrial environment.
As a Principal Engineer (Compliance) you must have knowledge of the design, operation, inspection and maintenance of complex mechanical and electrical plant, equipment, systems and services.
You must be fully conversant with regulatory standards and regimes that cover pressure vessels, boilers, compressors, generators, fuel storage, steam distribution, gas installations, refrigeration, cranes and other lifting equipment.
What else do I need to know?
This role is based at HM Naval Base Clyde, located 6 miles north of Helensburgh in the West of Scotland. We are well placed for commuter links to Glasgow and the wider region, but it is recommended for employees to travel by car due to the location.

About the role

- Provide competent advice to management at HMNB Clyde in relation to the regulatory compliance of facilities, systems, machinery and equipment
- Provide support, advice and guidance to operational departments, contractors and project teams on the application of industry good practice on the design, operation and maintenance of facilities, systems, machinery and equipment
- Conduct investigations, assessments and audits
- Train, assess, appoint and functionally manage the Competent Persons, undertaking the thorough examination and testing of lifting appliances and installed infrastructure pressure systems
- Functional responsibility for the activities of Engineering Surveyors when undertaking Competent Person duties for thorough examination and testing as defined in LOLER and PSSR
- Application of technical knowledge and judgement to analyse and evaluate problems to improve safety or operational effectiveness
What do I need to do the role?

- You will work a 37 hour week Monday-Friday with flexible working on offer
- Early Friday finish
- All applicants must have to be able to obtain SC Security Clearance to be able to work at HMNB Clyde
