As Senior Design Engineer for Nuclear Process you will provide engineering support and advice and deliver design solutions in support of naval nuclear refit and maintenance activities across the Devonport Nuclear Licensed Site and Ministry of Defence Authorised Site. You will be a core member of the engineering team, leading and supporting Design Engineers in delivering your design and technical authority responsibilities to the business.
Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
Your primary focus will be maintaining and controlling modifications to, and deviations from, the design intent of process/pressure systems and acting as the custodian of reference design documentation.
You will be responsible for leading design activities from requirements capture, design development, implementation and close out, to through-life support, decommissioning and disposal.
You will be focussed on ensuring compliance with Licence Conditions, statutory legislation and design codes/standards, leading, checking and approving design guidance, substantiation and analyses, and delivering against agreed budgets/timescales.
Qualifications / Experience
A minimum of a Higher National Certificate in a relevant engineering discipline is essential.
Proven background at Senior Design level with team leadership experience
Knowledge of pressure systems (pipework, tanks, pumps, overpressure protection etc.), computer aided design (3D CAD) and engineering, and demonstrable experience of having applied the whole design lifecycle
Professional registration or chartership is highly desirable and preference will be given to candidates with this
You will also have or be able to obtain SC security clearance
Nuclear Site Licence Conditions compliance experience is highly desirable.
